Who is Adam Thompson?
Hi, I’m Adam, and I’m standing for the Labour Party to be your MP for Amber Valley. I am a scientist and activist with a history of organising campaigns in the community.
Outside of politics, I’m a research scientist working in manufacturing engineering, developing advanced manufacturing technologies for measuring high-value products; primarily working on precision and additive manufacturing applications.
I have worked for several years in the scientific and manufacturing communities and have worked with key players in the manufacturing industry, from Rolls Royce to the High-Value Manufacturing Catapult.
I hold a strong advocacy for increasing the number of expert voices in parliament and the general science-literacy of British politics; I believe my experiences provide a strong basis to put myself forward to be your MP.
I care very much about restoring our NHS, stopping climate change and ensuring that the jobs and lives of working people are protected after Britain’s exit from the European Union.
I believe in implementing well-reasoned, scientifically-sound policy and am known locally for my ability to provide reason and measured debate; I am often able to facilitate consensus between people with differing opinions.
Prior to my current career, I trained as a secondary science teacher and feel very strongly about improving the quality of the education system.
If you put your trust in me to represent you in parliament, I promise to be a full time MP who will listen to and respect your concerns and plans for how our country should be run. I will work hard to represent all people in Amber Valley and do my best by the community.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on my campaign and your hopes for the future of our country. Either send me a message via Facebook, or an email at adam@adamthompsonlabour.uk and I’ll reply as quickly as I can.
